Web-Based e-Mail Use Down While Mobile Phone e-Mail Access WAY Up

Add more wood to the "e-mail is dying" pile (we'll set it on fire soon). comScore just released the results of a survey that shows web-based e-mail usage declining about 6% while e-mail access via mobile phone is up 36%. Wow! Something to consider when sending out newsletters, eh?

Facebook's "Buy With Friends"

"Social Commerce." Now there's an idea, and it's coming from the people at Facebook. Buy with your friends. At least for now, the discussion is about the purchase of virtual items, but I can see this concept expanding to actual goods and services purchases.
So, be aware of it now and be there when it's ready to impact your business.

A Big Social Apple

You know social media is essential when the most populous city in the U.S.A. hires somebody to manage it's online communication with citizens. This week, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced a new hire - Rachel Sterne is the "Big Apple's first "chief digital officer."
